Post #3: Problems and Solutions Part 1

Part 1 So why do we need God in our lives at all?  Can’t we just be as good as possible?  Last time we met, we talked about how there’s a fundamental difference between just knowing about God and really knowing Him (relationship). In my opinion, these are the central questions of life that all people must ask and answer for themselves.  It’s incredibly deep and personal.  My contention is that we do need God.  Why?  Because there are a few big problems that must be dealt with.   Adam and Eve sinned against God by believing the lie from the chief of liars.  They bought into the myth that they could figure it all out on their own, and that their way was better than God’s. The Bible says that sin entered into the world through this one man, that all have sinned, and that the result of this sin is death. Post #2. God is Speaking

I have a strong faith.  And I believe that God speaks to us.  I believe this because He says He is our Heavenly Father.  If He is our Father, then He loves us and cares for us. I know this because I am a father and I love my children.  I love them more than I can explain.  Because of this analogy, I know God loves us more than we can comprehend – more than we could ever love or understand.    In Matthew 7:11, Jesus says, “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” And if this is true, that God loves us and wants to give us good things, then He speaks to us and guides us, and yes, disciplines us, just like any good father would.  It is the most basic thing a lov...
